The magnificent sculpture stands tall at 65 feet and weighs 45 tons. It was a gift from a group of Mexican friends to the people of San Antonio and was dedicated to the memory of Henry B. Gonzalez, who served as the congressman for the city for over 37 years.

It was a gift from the Mexican government and the friends of Mexico, a group of Mexican businessmen, to the people of San Antonio.
