Point Pleasant Park

Spanning over 186 acres, this park is heaven with lots of green trees and gorgeous views. The trails are beautiful here and are mostly very smooth. While enjoying the stroll here, you’ll find many hidden gems including old fort ruins, historical sites, and gorgeous coastal spots. The beach is amazing there and is perfect for swimming or just taking a walk.

The park is home to tons of trails. Some of the best trails at this park include but are not limited to The Main Loop Trail, Tower Road, and Cambridge Battery Trail. The Main Loop Trail is gorgeously covered with lush forests and you can see the amazing coastline from here. The Tower Road is perfect for wheelchair users as the path is mostly flat. It’s a breeze for those who are not into hiking. The path is covered with cool shaded trees and you might even find some beautiful birds here. For a challenging hike, Cambridge Battery Trail is perfect with its rough terrain. It’ll take you to the remains of an old military battery. This trail passes through leafy trees as well but it’s for those who love to explore old military secrets.

You can explore historical sites in this park as it is filled with Halifax’s rich history. With the remnants of history including ancient towers and artillery— the park has a lot to offer that meets the eye. You can find The Prince of Wales Tower, which was built to defend Halifax's Harbor from enemies. It’s the oldest Martello tower and was built in 1796. It looks huge, like a giant cylinder made with thick walls. And as we’ve mentioned earlier about the Cambridge Battery which showcases the remains of an old artillery battery. It played a significant role in World War I and also during the War of 1812. The different military buildings and old gun positions are marvelous to look at and they take you back in time.

Another spot for the peaceful ride is the Sailor’s Memorial Way. While paddling away, you can see the memorials honoring the sailors. The path here is clear and very nice, perfect for a chill ride. Lastly, the North-West Arm Trail is perfect with its gorgeous coastal views. I mean what more can you ask for? The trail is beautiful and mostly flat for a peaceful ride.
