Sobre Willie Nelson Statue

The Willie Nelson Statue is a larger-than-life bronze tribute to one of Texas’s most legendary musicians and an enduring symbol of Austin’s celebrated live music culture. Located outside the Moody Theater in downtown Austin, the statue depicts Willie Nelson with his signature braids and guitar, honouring the artist’s decades-long connection to the city.

What to Know

Unveiled in 2012, the eight-foot-tall statue was created by sculptor Clete Shields and stands along Willie Nelson Boulevard, also known as West 2nd Street. Its location beside the Moody Theater, home of Austin City Limits Live, makes it a fitting tribute to an artist who played an important role in shaping Austin’s musical identity.

The statue is outdoors and easy to visit while exploring downtown Austin. It’s a popular photo stop and is within walking distance of Lady Bird Lake, Congress Avenue, and many of the restaurants, bars, and entertainment venues around the 2nd Street District.
