Description

Join us on the Best of Halifax Walking Tour and discover the city’s top attractions, rich history, and charming waterfront, all in one unforgettable experience!

Your Halifax adventure begins outside Uncommon Grounds Café at the Halifax Public Gardens. Recognized as a National Historic Site, these Victorian-style gardens are among the most beautiful in North America. Founded in 1836, the gardens offer a peaceful setting filled with colorful flowers, classic fountains, and walking paths, making it a perfect start to your day in Halifax.

From the gardens, your expert local guide will lead you past iconic city landmarks like Camp Hill Cemetery, the Halifax Common (Canada’s oldest urban park), and the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre. Along the way, you will hear fascinating stories about Halifax’s past and how these sites helped shape the city.

Next, you will walk by the famous Halifax Citadel National Historic Site, perched on Citadel Hill. This site played a key role in the city's founding by the British in 1749. Originally home to a wooden guardhouse and early settler homes at the hill’s base, the Citadel still stands as a powerful symbol of Halifax’s rich military history.

Your tour continues past the Halifax Town Clock, then on to City Hall and the historic St. Paul’s Anglican Church, the oldest surviving building in Halifax. You will also pass the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, home to an impressive collection of Canadian art.

As you approach the scenic Halifax Waterfront, you will enjoy views of the city’s bustling harbor. This area features one of the world’s longest urban boardwalks, stretching 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) along the waterfront. It’s a vibrant place full of restaurants, shops, and beautiful harbor views.

Your guided tour ends at the popular Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, and admission is included. Here, you will have free time to explore the museum’s exhibits, including artifacts from the Titanic and Halifax’s maritime history.

Private group tour with Evan was very good. As the group leader, I received several compliments on how good he was. This is a senior citizen group, so I'm not sure how many of our 26 will leave reviews but he should get credit for all of them!

Outstanding 3 1/2 hour bus and walking tour including the Citadel, Fairlawn Cemetery and the Public Gardens. The primary reason it was outstanding was that Evan was the best tour guide I’ve ever been with! Fun, educational, and worth every penny!
