Jordan Pond is a glacially formed lake surrounded by forests and mountains in Acadia National Park. The pond is known for its exceptionally clear water and serves as a protected public water supply, meaning swimming and wading are not permitted.
One of the best ways to experience the area is along the Jordan Pond Path, a scenic loop of approximately 3.3 miles around the shoreline. Visitors can also stop at the historic Jordan Pond House, famous for serving traditional popovers and offering beautiful views toward the Bubbles.
📍 How to Get There
Jordan Pond is located inside Acadia National Park, approximately 10 miles from downtown Bar Harbor. From Bar Harbor, enter the park and follow Park Loop Road toward Jordan Pond House. Signs along the route direct visitors to the Jordan Pond area.
Parking is available near Jordan Pond House, but the lots often fill quickly during the busy summer and fall seasons. Visitors can also use the free Island Explorer bus when seasonal service is operating. From the parking area, it is a short walk to Jordan Pond House, the shoreline, and surrounding trails.

Jordan Pond is beautiful from late spring through fall. Summer provides lush green scenery and comfortable conditions for hiking, while autumn transforms the surrounding forests and mountains with colourful foliage.
Arriving early in the morning is one of the best ways to enjoy quieter trails and improve your chances of finding parking. Clear, calm days are particularly scenic, when the surrounding mountains may reflect across the surface of the pond.
