About Quincy Market

Constructed between 1824-26, Quincy Market was named in honor of Mayor Josiah Quincy who was the organizer behind the construction and able to do so without any tax or debt. As part of the Faneuil Hall Marketplace, it serves as a historic shopping complex, featuring food, shopping, and entertainment in Downtown Boston.

The market became a designated National Historic Landmark in 1996 as one of the largest market complexes built in the United States in the first half of the 19th Century.
